Are we there yet?

Today we drove from Segovia to our apartment in the hills just outside of San Sebastian. It is cold (about 5degrees outside) and windy, but it is nice and toasty warm inside.

The drive was ok, it was raining lightly as we left Segovia, but cleared up after half an hour. The hills near Segovia were shrouded in cloud, I reckon it was snowing. Once we got past them it cleared up and we could even see blue sky. We stopped at a roadside station to swap drivers and to visit the dunny. This place not only sells petrol, but is a restaurant, gift shop and delicatessen. The Albatross picked up some pig blood sausage pate. Back in the car to hoon down the AutoPista for a few hours. We had another swap about an hour out of town. The Albatross got to drive again, and it started to rain as we hit the edge of town, which meant many more cars and trucks going every which way down a really steep hill.

After a few false directions by Karen (the GPS) we finally made it to the massive supermarket on the edge of San Sebastian. Bad Karen! Stocked up for food for dinner for the next couple of nights, we headed to our apartment. We’d booked a place 15km out of San Sebastian for a couple of nights. There wasn’t much left in town and it was all really expensive over the Friday and Saturday nights.

Arriving at our apartment, there was no one there, the place looked it was shut up for the winter and that they’d return when it got warm again. Admittedly this opinion may have been slightly skewed by the fact that it was howling 100km/hr winds and it was 3 degrees. Again, that might be a very slight exaggeration. But it is windy and cold here. So we sent the dude a text and he turned up in about half an hour.

We have a lovely spacious apartment which had great views of the ocean and it is warm. We’ve just had the pig pate The Albatross pick up at the servo, fantastic!!!! Bunny for dinner!
