Gaudi isn’t too gaudy, maybe just a bit.

Sleep is soooo wonderful, especially over 12 hours worth!

We had a plan for today, not a really good one or researched one, but a plan none the less. So, as all good well thought out plans go, ours didn’t go too bad.

Unlike other holidays, we haven’t done much reading. None really. So over breaky we decided to go to Park Güell and La Sagrada Família. A very quick search of the internet, said they were both open, so we jumped on the metro and headed off to the Park Güell.

If we’d done some research, we’d have known to pre-book out tickets into the main ‘monument park’ bit. But we didn’t, and so we had to wait for a couple of hours, enough time to find a coffee and go for a walk around the rest of the park.

Next stop was lunch. We found a nice little restaurant on a little plaza far enough away from the park to be free of tourists. Their set menu was good and cheap, and the beer delicious.

Then off to wander to the La Sagrada Família. Our researching abilities again let us down. The queue stretched down the street and around the corner, and that was to get tickets to enter at 6pm tonight or tomorrow, the tower access was booked out for two days. So we got tickets and will go see it tomorrow morning.

As our theme for the day was Gaudí, we thought we’d wander past La Pedrera. It is another Gaudí designed building, this time as an apartment and office block, and the outside is supposed to be quite cool. Bugger! They are doing renovations so the outside was covered in cloth.

We did stroll past another of his buildings not far away. The front was quite groovy.

I did wonder what the origin of the word gaudy was.

It was time to sit down to give the feet a rest. We might have tapas for dinner, or paella. Bridget, it’s a dinner meal right?
