The Albatross
Saturday 03 – Sunday 04 May 2014
We puddled around packing our bags today, before heading to the airport at 8pm. Not much to say, just sitting on planes and hanging around airports. It’s not fun, but it does get you there and we could at least grab a shower in Dubai which always helps. Eventually we rolled in to Barcelona about 1:30 pm and were at our hotel by 2:30. We contemplated having a nap, but decided on a walk around instead. I think it was a good decision as it was a nice arvo with a cool breeze blowing and helped us orientate ourselves. The streets were busy with both tourists and locals meandering around.
We strolled down La Rambla (as you are meant to do apparently) then through some back streets, saw an impressive gothic church which was apparently Barcelona’s cathedral as we worked out later.
Eventually we pulled in to a restaurant and had one of the most appreciated beers of my existence and a few tapas.
It was now about 5:30pm, my eyes could no longer focus to read and we worked out we’d been awake for nearly 48 hours (why oh why can’t I sleep on planes?). After a lovely shower thirteen hours of sweet, sweet sleep awaited.
