Hello Mudda, Hello Fudda!

Today we left Cartagena and headed to Granada. The drive was really pretty and it was divided, dual lane highway all the way. Getting close to Granada the Sierra Nevada’s pop up rather dramatically and stunningly and are snow-capped even at this time of year.

Finding our way into town wasn’t too bad, just a lot of cars and roundabouts. We found the car park the hotel recommended. OMG, the parking spaces are really, really narrow! Good thing we have got nil excess on the rental and there is a little scratch down one side.

Our room wasn’t ready so we dropped our bags and headed across the road for some sangria.

Johnny and Bridget turned up after two sangrias and a gazpacho, so we all checked in, dumped our luggage and headed into town to find a bite to eat. By now it was 2pm. We had our first paella of the trip, we left it this long so we could make sure we had it with Bridget and at the right time of day. A couple of cañas (tap beer) and we were all feeling rather good.

We went for a stroll to find the ‘best’ spice shop in town, somewhere near the cathedral. So after a gentle stroll around the outside we found it. Have picked up a not so small packet of saffron!

A further stroll found a nice little bar that sold sangria and beer. So we plonked down and had a couple of pitchers of sangria. It was full of local younger people so figured we were near a University. They then started bringing out tapas, for free. So after a lovely afternoon and evening of sitting and talking much rubbish with J&B, have a few shandies and vino and taps, we decided it was time (10.30pm) to head back towards the hotel to wait for Chris and Shaz to turn up. There was a very convenient bar to sit and wait at. And then have a beer with them when they arrived.

Granada is ok.

Fantastic to meet up with Johnny and Bridget and Chris and Shaz.
